GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL POLICY
(As per AICTE Norms & Guidelines)
1. Preamble: In accordance with the guidelines of the All India Council for Technical Education, the Institute establishes a Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) to address grievances of students, faculty and staff in a fair, transparent and time-bound manner.
2. Objectives:
a. To ensure prompt and impartial redressal of grievances.
b. To uphold discipline and ethical standards within the institute.
c. To provide a safe and supportive academic environment.
d. To comply with AICTE and statutory requirements.
3. Constitution of the Committee: Composition (AICTE Suggested Structure)
i. Chairperson
ii. Faculty Members
iii. Administrative Officer
iv. Student Representative
v. External Member
vi. Special Invitees (Legal Advisor, Counsellor and Subject Expert)
4. Tenure of the Committee:
a. The committee shall have a tenure of 2–3 years.
b. Members may be reappointed based on performance.
5. Powers and Functions: The GRC shall:
a. Receive and examine complaints from students and staff
b. Conduct fair inquiry and investigation
c. Provide opportunity of hearing to concerned parties
d. Recommend appropriate corrective measures
e. Ensure confidentiality and sensitivity
f. Maintain proper documentation and records
g. Submit periodic reports to the Principal/Director
6. Jurisdiction of the Committee: The GRC shall address grievances related to:
a. For Students:
i. Academic matters (evaluation, attendance, results)
ii. Fees and financial issues
iii. Infrastructure and facilities
iv. Behavioural issues (excluding sexual harassment & ragging)
b. For Staff:
i. Service-related issues
ii. Workplace environment
iii. Administrative concerns
7. Exclusions (As per AICTE Norms): The following cases shall be handled by separate statutory bodies:
a. Sexual Harassment Cases → Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)
b. Ragging Cases → Anti-Ragging Committee
c. Examination Malpractice → Unfair Means Committee
8. Meetings of the Committee:
a. The GRC shall meet at least once in a quarter
b. Emergency meetings may be called in urgent cases
c. Quorum: Minimum 50% of members including Chairperson
9. Procedure for Redressal:
a. Acknowledge grievance within 2–3 working days
b. Resolve grievance within 10–15 working days
c. Maintain transparency and natural justice
d. Provide written communication of decisions
10. Record Maintenance:
a. Register of grievances (manual/online)
b. Minutes of meetings
c. Action Taken Reports (ATR)
d. Documentation for AICTE inspections
11. Reporting Mechanism: GRC shall report to:
a. President of Governing Body (If Required)
12. Display and Awareness: Committee details shall be displayed on:
a. Institute website
b. Notice boards
c. Student handbook
